TerraFlow Installation
Disposing of Ponded Water
Water accumulations generally occur in turf areas having low soil permeability and slow infiltrations rates. Topsoil compaction occurring from foot traffic frequently leads to surface ponding.
Consequently, groundwater removal often involves placing TerraFlow so that it collects water from the top surface in addition to subsurface.
TerraFlow systems are intended to permit water access to the drainage system from both ground elevation and below-grade surfaces.
Placing and Backfilling TerraFlow
Excavate trenches to the required dimensions and slopes established for the drainage site. The minimum recommended trench width is 3" to allow for adequate backfill.
Center the TerraFlow drain in the trench, with the flap of the TerraBond fabric seam pointing downward
Connect all adjoining ends of TerraFlow solidly using coupler plates and retaining washers, then tightly seal all joints with waterproof sealing tape.
Backfill TerraFlow completely on both sides with specified backfill material. Extend the backfill to top of trench.
Carefully compact the selected backfill material - avoiding TerraFlow drain - to prevent settlement of the turf surface around the narrow trench.
TerraFlow Fittings and Couplers
Unique SNAP-LOCK connectors assure joint alignment, flow continuity and pull apart resistance. SNAP-LOCK couplers are easily installed by matching holes in the TerraFlow core with pins on the coupler plate then securing them with push-on steel retainers. TerraGreen's rubber-impregnated cloth tape provides long -term performance in wet soils.
T-Adaptors connect 6" TerraFlow collectors and TerraFlow trunk drains. These special adaptors allow easier connection of TerraFlow and improve flow efficiency at drain intersections.
Side and end outlet fittings create a smooth transition between TerraFlow and solid-wall plastic outlet pipe. A fabric sleeve on each end, when extended over the connecting TerraFlow and sealed TerraGreen waterproof tape, provides soil-tight joints. The 4" dia. outlet stubs are sized to match either SDR35 or Schedule 40 PVC plastic pipe and fittings, or can be used with readily available adaptors to connect to other types of outlet pipe.
